1) Our older members who struggled with the heat of last summer would choose to NOT attend worship based on the heat of the day. 2) Families with young children might choose to miss worship since it is late in the morning and there is no Church School before worship, and 3) We would pass up an opportunity to be better stewards for energy conservation by using the church at the hottest time of the morning.However, the Session has agreed to try something new. Worship will continue to be the vibrant worship we have always expected but it will be at 10:00 am, not 11:00. But, what does the Session hope to accomplish by this change you may be asking? The Session hopes to explore whether a change in worship time substantially impacts worship attendance. And, the Session is hoping that by moving worship up one hour we can capitalize on the time that Church School would normally occupy by offering worship instead.
All in all, we will need to try this before any conclusions are made. We learn my our successes and mistakes. But, with God's grace and a little patience we will continue to move forward in God's blessing.
