Our Pastor
Troy Lesher-Thomas arrived in Pittsboro in June 2003. Troy is married to Mitzi Lesher-Thomas and has two children, Mackenzie and Andrew. He graduated from Union-PSCE with a Masters of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Education earning his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech. Currently, Troy is working on his Doctor of Ministry degree in the area of Family Systems Theory and Church Leadership. Among many other areas of interest, he is excited by the intersection of faith development and leadership.
Troy enjoys living in a small town with a bright future. He serves on the boards of the United Way of Chatham County, Chatham County Department of Social Services, and has regular contact with many of the non-profit groups in town. You will often find him enjoying the outdoors in his own yard in Chatham Forest or walking the town of Pittsboro. Troy also enjoys teaching undergraduate courses for Mount Olive College at the RTP campus when time permits.
As our Pastor, Troy encourages a strong vision of partnership with other agencies and services in Pittsboro. He has been instrumental in setting up the Church Fund in cooperation with the Salvation Army to provide additional assistance to individuals and families seeking help through the Salvation Army. This fund is supported by area congregations who share a concern to help those caught in the cycle of poverty. Troy has also been a part of the new Interfaith Ministries of Chatham County started with the vision of our own county commissioner, Carl Thompson.
