Outreach
Pittsboro Presbyterian Church takes 10% from our weekly, general offerings and dedicates this money to fulfill Christ's mandate to care for the poor. These Outreach dollars assist people with utility bills, camp scholarships, non-profits concerned with social justice issues, and global poverty. In addition to this commitment, some individuals and families contribute directly to this fund. At the end of each year this money is spent so that as many people of Chatham county can be helped as possible.
Local Outreach
Individuals and Families -- Each year we help individuals and families through a combined effort with other area churches. Churches participating in this local outreach give money directly to the Salvation Army to be administered by them on behalf of the congregations which contribute. The money is to be used for utility bills and food - as individuals demonstrate need.
Habitat for Humanity - Apostles' Build - Pittsboro Presbyterian Church along with other churches in Chatham county have collaborated to build 10 houses through the Apostles' Build iniative. Under this iniative, 12 churches join hands and commit to build a house. Each church contributes financially and with work hours spent on site.
Alternative Break - Pittsboro Presbyterian Church has opened its doors for over three years to college students wishing to spend their breaks in Pittsboro. These students from the University of Illinois and New York University come and stay at the church while they volunteer at the Carnivore Preservation Trust.

Global Outreach
Fair Trade Coffee/Tea: We are a supporting congregation for fairly traded coffees and teas. We regularly offer times to purchase these items as well as make order forms available for individuals and families to use at any time. (www.equalexchange.com)
Presbyterian Church (USA): We support our national office with our per capita giving. We are glad to be a part of the national church's ongoing outreach worldwide (www.pcusa.org)
Pennies for Hunger: Each month we collect a special offering during worship after the time with our children. This offering supports the ongoing effort to eliminate hunger. People are asked to collect 2 cents for each meal they eat and give this on the third Sunday.
World Hunger - Because of Christ's call to us to share what we have we take seriously the reality of hunger for so much of the world's population. Every third Sunday we take up a Pennies for Hunger offering which across our presbytery has surpassed $3 million since we began in 1989. In addition, we honor the work of our General Assembly and its efforts by supporting and sharing their efforts, such as 2002 Task Force Report on Food Crises throughout the world.
