Pennies for Hunger
During worship on the third Sunday of each month, we collect a special offering called "Pennies for Hunger." Families and individuals are encouraged to set aside a couple of pennies for each meal, each day, for each member of their household. On these third Sundays the pennies are collected and then sent to our presbytery office. Salem Presbytery then collects each church's Pennies for Hunger offering and puts them together for local grants throughout the presbytery. Since 1989, we have collected over $1 million dollars to give back to areas in need as a presbytery. Pittsboro Presbyterian Church is deeply committed to this and other hunger ministries.
