Worship
Here at Pittsboro Presbyterian Church, we gather for worship every Sunday at 11:00. (SUMMER WORSHIP IS AT 10:00AM FROM THE FIRST SUNDAY OF JUNE - THE LAST SUNDAY OF AUGUST). Our worship includes prayer, song, sharing, and the proclamation of the Word. We celebrate the sacrament of the Lord's Supper usually once a month. Our style is traditional with occasional departures into contemporary music from our choir or invited guests. We understand scripture and sacrament to be central to our lives of faith.
Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives. As they respond to God's claim and redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God's service in the world. (BOO W-1.001)
Throughout worship there are times when the congregation is invited to share in the liturgy of the service. Some liturgy is provided in the bulletin and at other times people are encouraged to freely respond. We have regular times for silence during prayer. And casual dress is always acceptable.
There are special services throughout the year: Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Easter Sunrise, Joint Thanksgiving Service, and the Christmas Eve Service.
