Youth & Children
Children's Ministry
Education - All God's children are welcome to participate in the church's ministry and education. On Sunday mornings, the church provides a staffed nursery for children ages 3 and under. The nursery is thoughtfully supplied with toys, books, a crib, and diaper changing station. There is currently no education offering at the 10:00 hour for children agees 3-7. Upper elementary and middle school age children are encouraged to stay in worship and attend the Catechism class for their instruction in the Bible.

Worship - Children are welcome in worship. If however, you do not feel that your child is ready to attend worship the whole hour there is a space provided for children outside of worship. This classroom is staffed and welcomes children ages 3-7. Children under the age of 3 are welcome in the nursery during worship. If parents wish to provide their children with a smaller experience of worship the children can then stay until the Time with the Children (approximately 15 minutes into worship) and then go to Children's Church. Further opportunities for children in worship include serving as an Acolyte. Acolytes are usually 4th-6th graders wishing to serve in worship. A short period of training is included in their preparation. Also, children, with the assistance of an adult, may ring the steeple bell to begin and conclude worship. Those wishing to serve either as bell-ringer or Acolyte should contact our pastor.

Youth Education - For youth seeking an educational opportunity in the church, we recommend trying one of our Adult classes. Each summer, the church pledges financial support to our youth wishing to attend Montreat Youth Conference.

Worship - Youth are always welcome in worship and are encouraged to participate at times. We are always looking for liturgists and choir members. Youth wishing to explore either of these opportunities should speak with our pastor.
Catechism Class
Though the content of this class has grown beyond our name, we do use from time to time the valuable teachings of our denominational catechism for youth. This group is for youth from 4th-8th grades who are looking for service, worship, education, and fellowship. In 2010, we will continue our study of the environment and plan to adopt a portion of the area's watershed for evaluation, protection, and care.
Nursery
A nursery room is provided and staffed by a Pittsboro Presbyterian employee during Church School and Worship on Sunday mornings. Parents, or families wishing to use the nursery should plan to arrive a few minutes early in order to meet the nursery attendant and explain any special needs that their child may have. Children will be supervised during the time they are in the nursery until a parent/guardian comes to pick them up.
Playground
There is a fenced-in playground for children to use while here at Pittsboro Presbyterian Church. In 2008, we will be adding to this area with the help of the Boy Scouts. Preston Martindale is adding a new piece of equipment to our playground as part of his Eagle Scout project. The improvements are now complete.
